. The Transient Museum of a Thousand Conversations .
[IFI LIP - Yogyakarta, 2022]
The Transient Museum of a Thousand Conversations is an initiative
of the Museum of Kaliurang Community (MUKKA) that is created
as an attempt to archive the space and as a continuous knowledge
transmission of trans-generational memory. This museum started as
a collection of works from the 900mdpl biennial exhibition in Kaliurang starting in 2017. Pieces of community history are collected
through memories, conversations, and stories as a concept of oral tradition and another form of a ‘museum’. The location is always moving
and acts as a temporary museum, it works as an illustration of how
the ground is continuously moving beneath us. Another version of
the museum has been exhibited in Kaliurang (2019) and ISCP - New
York (2020). This time, the museum displays several works previously
exhibited in the third iteration of 900mdpl: Genealogy of Ghost and
How to Live with Them (2022) which aim at the relationship between
human, non-human, and the environment around it.
